“Reiki” (ray-key) is Japanese for ‘universal life energy’, a term used to describe a natural system to help bring about an improved sense of wellbeing and a positive feeling of spiritual renewal. This tradition was founded by Mikao Usui in the early 20th century and evolved as a result of his research, experience and dedication. It is a tradition that is open to any belief system and benefits may include deep relaxation and the promotion of a calm peaceful sense of wellbeing.
The method of receiving a Reiki treatment from a practitioner is simple. The recipient remains clothed and comfortably lies on a couch or sits on a chair. The practitioner gently places their hands non-intrusively, on or near the body using their intuition and training as a guide. There is no massage or manipulation. Reiki can be used on the person as a whole, or on specific parts of the body. It is also possible to receive Reiki at a distance. Reiki is taught by Reiki Master/Teachers, who have trained in the tradition passed on, in person, from Master to student.” Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council

Reiki works holistically bringing healing energy to all levels of our being: the physical, the emotional, the mental and the spiritual. The practitioner acts as a facilitator, allowing the energy to flow to where it is most needed.
Physical: Reiki supports the body’s natural ability to heal itself. Reiki treatment can encourage deep relaxation, easing stress and tension and helping to restore balance and enhance vitality and wellbeing.
Emotional: Reiki therapy can help us to develop awareness of what is at the root of our feelings and emotions, encouraging us to be kinder and more compassionate to ourselves and others.
Mental: Reiki helps to calm the mind and supports us to develop insights into our beliefs and thought patterns and the way we feel about ourselves and our lives.
Spiritual: Reiki treatment can offer us a way to feel truly present, to look beyond the busy external world of everyday life and begin to accept ourselves unconditionally.
The development of our personal and spiritual awareness can open us up to a deeper appreciation of life, the beauty around us in nature and the people in our lives. This can help us to focus on our sense of gratitude for all that we have and highlight what is really important to us.

The first session will start with an initial consultation to discuss what has brought you to Reiki. This is a good chance to ask questions and for me to explain more about the treatment and its benefits.

All Reiki treatments are fully clothed. You only need to remove your shoes and coat. It is helpful to wear loose comfortable clothing as you will be sitting or lying down for a period of time. You will be covered with a blanket to keep you warm.

Reiki is a hands-on healing treatment but does not involve any massage, pressure or manipulation. During the session Tash will place and hold her hands non-intrusively on your head and body in a number of positions allowing the Reiki energy to flow to you. It is also possible to receive Reiki both with hands slightly off the body or at a distance.
Treatments will be given either lying on a therapy couch or sitting in a chair depending on where you feel most comfortable. On the therapy couch you will be asked to lie on your back for a time and sometimes to lie on your front so Tash can work on your back. These positions can be adjusted if they do not feel comfortable – for instance using a side lying position supported with cushions.

You might feel sensations such as heat, cold, tingling or light pins and needles or you might feel a bit emotional or sleepy. Some people don’t feel anything in particular but many experience a feeling of deep relaxation and a sense of peace and wellbeing.

Even a one-off Reiki treatment can be very beneficial, although a series of regular sessions may be more effective to support your health and wellbeing. Sessions can be booked weekly, fortnightly or less often depending on your individual needs.
A treatment plan will be discussed with you at the initial consultation and this can be reviewed as necessary to meet your needs and preferences.
Regular Reiki treatment is a great form of self-care that can help you to find and maintain balance in your life.

Distance Reiki allows you to receive all the healing benefits of Reiki energy from anywhere in the world. Distance healing works because energy is not limited by time or space.
A remote Reiki treatment is a convenient and accessible option if you are unable to attend in-person sessions for any reason or if you would find it more relaxing to receive Reiki in the comfort of your own home.
Before the first session, Tash will send you a Reiki consultation form to complete and sign and an aftercare advice sheet.
During the one-hour session, connected via Zoom, there will be time before and after the treatment to check in with Tash about your current health and wellbeing and to discuss anything that may arise from the sessions.
You do not need to do anything specific during the treatment as the energy will flow to where it is most needed. You are invited to sit or lie down comfortably, cosy up with your favourite blanket, put on some relaxing music and enjoy receiving the Reiki energy.

After the session it is important to take your time and to sit quietly in a chair with a glass of water. There will be space to discuss the treatment, to ask any questions you may have and to plan any further treatments. We will also discuss any after care considerations and make sure you feel centred and grounded before leaving.

“Tash has a gentle and intuitive approach to her deeply healing Reiki sessions. I have a chronic pain condition and I find the sessions help me to tune into myself and feel both relaxation during the sessions and a renewal of energy that I carry with me afterwards.”
“What you do for yourself, any gesture of kindness, any gesture of gentleness, any gesture of honesty and clear seeing towards yourself, will affect how you experience your world. In fact, it will transform how you experience the world.”
